“Hospitals have lost their ability to treat [patients], and medical teams are treating the patients with very limited capabilities,” the Palestinian Health Ministry Spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qudra said, CNN reported.
Earlier, the health ministry warned that the electricity and fuel shortages “will lead to a major humanitarian catastrophe, especially for patients with kidney failure.”
It further called on civilians and owners of gas stations in Gaza to donate any fuel they have to hospitals to "save the lives of the wounded and patients".
On October 7, Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise large-scale rocket attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip and breached the border, killing and seizing people in neighboring Israeli communities.
Israel launched retaliatory strikes and ordered a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, home to more than 2 million people, cutting off supplies of water, food and fuel. The blockade was later eased to allow trucks with humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
Health officials in Gaza said the Israeli bombardment has killed at least 5,087 people, including 2,055 children and 1110 women, since October 7. Another 15,273 individuals have also been injured.
